We Will Not See a Landing on Mars Until 2030

Even though the United Stated proved their courage by promising as that by 2030 there will be humans sent to Mars, lack of fund and poor planning might ruin their visions, according to lawmakers and space experts’ concerns expressed on Wednesday.

Since Apollos missions of the 1970s and 1960s, no other American was sent to the Moon, so President Donald Trump has that in mind. He wants to build a lunar gateway as a possibility of testing the spacecraft and technology suitable for carrying humans to Mars. The decision of the White House to return to the Moon was confirmed by Senator Bill Nelson at a hearing in Washington. The former president of the United States, Barack Obama, mainly focused on reaching mars so Trump’s change of plans might delay the process.

Nelson from Florida where the Cape Canaveral and Kennedy Space Center can be found said: “We don’t want to rob the NASA budget of what is the goal, and the goal is to get to Mars with humans.” He has also got a question “Do these missions help us achieve our goal of getting humans to Mars?”.

Augustine Commission, an independent expert panel, gave NASA a warning in 2009 that its resources are not enough to match its extraordinary plans.

If NASA wants to make it to Mars, they will need an additional amount of $3 billion per year along with their current annual budget of around $18 billion.

NASA has also planned to create a deep space program, getting its capital from the inflations which increase the budget. The news was recently announced in 2018.

Academies of Science has made a calculus ng NASA’s budget and if it continues on path, “forget the scenario of getting to Mars by the 2030s. It would take us until 2050,” Nelson added.

“I don’t think we want to wait that long.”
