Employees at Caesars Windsor are set to be on strike

The 1300 unionized employees of the Caesars Casino Windsor will negotiate until midnight on Tuesday night. If the discussions do not succeed, they will be on strike at midnight.

Shortly before 10 pm, discussions continued, but two union representatives had left the negotiating table to go to the casino and explain to the workers how to proceed in the event of a walkout.

Unifor Local 444 president James Stewart assured the bargaining committee that it was doing everything possible to reach an agreement. In the afternoon, he called the climate “worrying”.

“We were very clear about our position and the company has different objectives,” he said.

Earlier this month, employees voted 98 percent in favor of the strike.

The casino has not been on strike for 14 years.
