Type 2 diabetes symptoms usually develop pretty slowly, and this can make spotting them a bit challenging. If the condition is left untreated, it can lead to the development of severe complications. In other words, recognizing the symptoms as soon as possible is very important.
Armpit sign of diabetes
For instance, one of the signs that can indicate type 2 diabetes is in your armpit.
Type 2 diabetes signs can remain untreated for many years, or they can be mistaken for less severe health conditions.
If the disease is not treated properly, the complications that can develop include kidney damage, nerve damage, and cardiovascular disease.
One of the most commonly recognized symptoms of type 2 diabetes includes feeling thirsty all the time. As we said, another sign can be seen in the armpit.
Areas of darkened skin is a notable symptom, according to Mayo Clinic.
It explains: “Some people with type 2 diabetes have patches of dark, velvety skin in the folds and creases of their bodies.”
This usually occurs in the armpit, and can also appear on the neck.
The condition is known as acanthosis nigricans and may be a sign of insulin resistance.
There are also other symptoms of type 2 diabetes, the NHS notes, include:
- Feeling thirsty all the time
- Feeling very tired
- Losing weight without trying to
- Itching around your penis or vagina, or repeatedly getting thrush
- Cuts or wounds taking longer to heal
- Blurred vision
Urine-related symptoms
There are also some symptoms which are related to urine. For instance, frequent urination is a condition which is known as polyuria, and it involves passing over three liters of urine on a daily basis compared to the normal quantity which is about one-two.
“When the kidneys filter blood to make urine, they reabsorb all of the sugar, returning it to the bloodstream,” explains Diabetes.co.uk.
Urine smell and the presence of blood in the urine are other signs of diabetes as well.
