The COVID-19 vaccine developed by Pfizer was just fully approved in the UK, and many more countries will follow on. But yet again, there are still a lot of skeptical people who don’t want to take the vaccine. Conspiracy theories represent a reality that we cannot neglect, and in the end, everybody has the right to his own opinion.
The million-dollar question arises: can you get fired from work if you don’t take the COVID-19 vaccine? Many people will do get vaccinated, that’s for sure, and the first categories targeted by the authorities for that matter are elders and those who work in the medical field.
Religious beliefs or a disability can save you from the vaccine
Losing a job simply for refusing to take the COVID-19 vaccine is also a reality that many people will have to deal with. Unless they invoke strong reasons like a health issue or religious beliefs, the companies they work for will not be tolerant with them. Rogge Dunn, who is a Dallas labor and employment attorney, declared about the vaccination:
Unless you have a disability or sincerely held religious beliefs, the employer can force you to take it,
And if you don’t take it, they can fire you.
Dunn also believes that many employers will require a COVID-19 vaccine as soon as they become available. Protecting workers and customers is the main and perhaps the only reason.
The pandemic continues to create a lot of havoc across the world. Over 68 million infections and more than 1.5 million deaths, that’s how things are overall. Luckily enough, the doctors and nurses managed to recover almost 47.5 million patients that were infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
In the end, we all should remember that refusing the COVID-19 vaccination comes at our own risk.
