Deputy Health Minister From Vietnam is Prosecuted for Alleged Involvement in Fake Medicine Trading Ring

There shouldn’t be any fooling around when it comes to medicine. A deputy health minister from Vietnam is accused to had been involved in a fake medicine trading ring, and the Police started to prosecute him, according to Reuters.

The news is confirmed by the security agency of Vietnam, and there’s no information yet about the man being arrested or not. Voice of Vietnam Radio says that the alleged offense occurred in 2014, and at that time, the deputy health minister was head of Vietnam’s Drug Administration.

Truong Quoc Cuong is deputy minister since five years ago

Truong Quoc Cuong is 59 years old, and he also serves as the head of the drugs and cosmetics management of Vietnam. The man is charged for “lack of responsibility, causing serious consequences,” , according to the Ministry of Public Security led by the Police.

Cuong allowed for a company to import more than 54 billion dong (“dong” being the currency of Vietnam, and the total amount is equivalent to $2.38 billion) worth of fake meds for domestic sale.
