Whether we like to admit it or not, there are a lot of talented individuals on social media in general and on Instagram in particular. The Meta-owned social network is filled with content creators who would use some extra incentive for their work.
According to abcNEWS, Instagram is already testing a feature for giving content creators the chance of making more money for their work. Some of them can now charge subscription fees from their followers.
Should content creators make a living through Meta’s platforms?
Meta, the company formerly known as Facebook, revealed in a recent blog post its plans for giving content creators the chance to make some money through the social network’s platforms.
Meta also announced that it would not collect fees from creators on Facebook Subscription purchases. This is available until 2023 at the earliest.
Meta wrote, as cited by abcNEWS:
With Instagram Subscriptions, creators can develop deeper connections with their most engaged followers and grow their recurring monthly income by giving subscribers access to exclusive content and benefits, all within the same platform where they interact with them already.
Otherwise, with or without a subscription, Instagram remains a highly-trusted app. The service counts around 1 billion users, and probably many more will come.
Here’s how Instagram’s Google Play Store page describes the social network:
Instagram (from Facebook) allows you to create and share your photos, stories, and videos with the friends and followers you care about. Connect with friends, share what you’re up to, or see what’s new from others all over the world. Explore our community where you can feel free to be yourself and share everything from your daily moments to life’s highlights.
Are you happy about the possibility of charging subscription fees on Instagram? Would you use such a feature? Feel free to tell us in the comment section!
