Last year, the highest point of the annual meteor shower known as the Perseids was obscured by the presence of a full Moon; however, the yearly meteor shower will be more intense and thrilling this year. It is really one of the strong showers of the year, and since it has been active for such a considerable amount of time, there is a possibility that we may see a fireball.

When exactly will the annual Perseid meteor shower take place?
It is without a doubt one of the most fascinating happenings in space when on July 17, 2023, the annual Perseid meteor shower will begin and will continue to be visible until August 24. In addition, the peak of the meteor shower is expected to occur around the 12th and 13th of August, and it is expected to continue until the early morning hours of the 14th. That is pretty cool, don’t you think?
After then, the number of meteors that may be seen will begin to decrease, but it is possible that we will still be able to see a few of them as we get closer to the edge of the dust cloud.
Much of this time [between July 17 and August 24], the meteor rate is low, but between 10-16 August, rates are notably higher. The number of meteors seen per hour through this period reached a sharp peak in the early hours of August 13, explained Pete Lawrence, veteran astronomer and The Sky at Night presenter.
And here’s something else that’s completely unbelievable!
Although it’s always a good idea to take these figures with a grain of salt, it’s possible that we could be as high as 100 meteors/ hour when it’s at its height. Take a night off to enjoy everything by settling up with a comfortable chair, some snacks, and a clicker.
Where to spot the Perseid meteor shower event?
The constellation Perseus may be found in the sky’s northeastern region. It is positioned such that it is sandwiched between the recognizable ‘W’ of the constellation Cassiopeia, which is located above it, and the Pleiades, which are located slightly below it. As morning draws closer, the radiant will ascend to greater altitudes. Make an effort to soak in as much of the nighttime sky as you can in your line of sight to get the finest potential views.
