A cutting-edge AI system from Canada is making history by embarking on a journey to the lunar surface, riding along on the United Arab Emirates’ Rashid rover, which was launched by SpaceX a few months ago, and Space.com tells us more. This will be the first time an AI system will venture beyond low Earth orbit, and it has the potential to revolutionize decision-making for spacecraft, including NASA’s Artemis missions to search for water on the Moon and improve Earth observations.

As the rover touches down on the Moon in the spring, it will be in search of valuable minerals and other items of interest. This demonstration mission may be short-lived on the lunar surface, but the data and insights gathered will be invaluable.
