Why NASA Hasn’t Been to the Moon Since 1972?
Back in 1969, NASA managed to land the first human crew on the Moon during the Apollo 11 mission. Everybody thought at that point that the American space agency would never stop exploring our natural satellite using human crew and that, eventually, our planet would have a base there. Well, astronomers kept landing on the Moon until 1972 during the Apollo 17 mission, making a total of six human landing missions.
However, something unexplainable happened. Since 1972, no human crew landed on our natural satellite, and that’s clearly not what the world expected. Technology has evolved to a tremendous level since those times, meaning that humanity could have used all that progress to build a sustainable and powerful base on the Moon, but it didn’t happen. So, what could be the cause?
Insufficient funds
A trip to the Moon costs NASA a lot of money, although there aren’t any expensive venues on our natural satellite as far as we know. All that fuel and preparation for those rockets obviously cost money, which is the reason invoked by the space agency as an explanation for why humans haven’t been to the Moon since the Apollo 17 mission in 1972. But is that really the truth, or is NASA hiding something from us? Conspiracy theorists didn’t hesitate to let their imagination go wild, but there could be a bit of truth in there, after all. Whether they’re right or not, let’s see what they have in mind!
Aliens on the Moon might have given astronauts a run for their money
Theoretically, there is at least a small chance for extraterrestrial life forms to exist in various parts of the Solar System. But instead of searching for them on another planet, what if they exist right “next door,” or in our case, on our Moon? The main conspiracy theory is that NASA has kept hidden from all of us the following event: the latest astronauts who landed on the Moon way back in 1972 encountered alien civilizations that proved to be hostile towards the Earthlings. In other words, those supposed aliens might have told NASA astronauts to leave the Moon and quit their plan to build a base there, or else things could become messy for them. Although it surely sounds like a wild theory, it can surely explain why NASA hasn’t landed a human crew on the Moon since 1972.
Of course, it’s just a conspiracy theory, as scientists are not even sure that alien civilizations exist in the first place, not to mention the extremely scarce possibility for them to exist on the Moon. What’s for sure is that nobody can claim with absolute certainty that the theory is wrong, either. After all, scientists have not scanned the entirety of the lunar surface to know for sure everything that’s cooking there.
If NASA’s Artemis mission, which is expected to launch in 2025, turns out to be successful, it shall mean that humanity will finally return to the Moon after a hiatus of more than half a century. But even so, the million-dollar question of why NASA didn’t send humans on our natural satellite in all this time still remains.
