The Artemis Programme and Why it’s Easier to go to the Moon now
We have the statement of the Lembit Öpik, the Chairman of Parliament for the space nation Asgardia, about what is like to go back to the Moon now comparing to 1969. We’ll tell you all about it.
Artemis, the new NASA program is going to return to the Moon in the next years and also it will land the first woman there.
What Lembit Öpik has to say about NASA and the new missions to the Moon
Lembit Öpik believes that NASA is more capable now of coordinating missions to the Moon because the technology is more advanced and the costs are lower. Therefore, we have all the reasons to believe that Artemis will be a success. Also, Lembit Öpik thinks that the president of the United States is not wrong when he talks about Artemis. Both of them are saying that nowadays it’s easier to lend to the Moon due to all of the progress that has been made so far.
Mr. Öpik also supports the idea of going directly to Mars from Earth instead of going to Mars from the Moon. That will be, in his opinion, cheaper and also more efficient.
Lembit Öpik mentioned that building the Lunar Gateway should be the next goal that NASA needs to accomplish. But first, the astronauts have to be able to explore the Moon and find new resources.
Lastly, Lembit Öpik has some things to say about the Lunar Module spacecraft used in 1969. Back then it was seen as one of the greatest achievements, but now it seems a little limited and not entirely efficient. The technology that Artemis will use is way more advanced and that will guarantee the success of the new missions. The NASA Administrator also thinks that the technology used by the Apollo program is a little outdated today.
