The new President of the USA, Joe Biden, is determined to reverse Donald Trump’s departure from the WHO (World Health Organization). Dr. Anthony Fauci is expected to lead a US delegation that shall meet with officials from the WHO.
The news is brought by Fox News, and there’s no surprise here. Joe Biden has shown himself very concerned about the COVID-19 pandemic that keeps ravaging its country. With a total of over 25 million infections and more than 417,000 deaths, the USA remains the world’s most affected country by the ongoing pandemic.
The WHO can improve the health of all people
If we choose to believe Joe Biden, the WHO can definitely improve everybody’s health. The 46th US President spoke about the body as being “an entity that is critical to coordinating the international response to COVID-19, advancing preparedness for future epidemics and pandemics, and improving the health of all people.”
The Trump administration seemed to have serious reasons to be pissed off at the WHO. Some of the accusations were that the WHO officials ignored warnings about the coronavirus from Taiwan, praising the Chinese ‘transparency,’ and more. Donald Trump declared:
Because they have failed to make the requested and greatly needed reforms, we will be today terminating our relationship with the World Health Organization and redirecting those funds to other worldwide and deserving urgent global public health needs.
Even one day after being inaugurated as the new President of the USA, Joe Biden had a lot of work to do. He also made facemasks mandatory in all federal buildings and lands, an idea that is part of the ‘100 Days Masking Challenge’. As you’ve probably already guessed, the idea behind the challenge is to make people fight the COVID-19 pandemic by wearing a mask for 100 days.
