Allison Mack Has Been Released From Prison Early, Serving Only Two Years of a Three-year Sentence
Allison Mack was granted an early release from jail after serving two years of a three-year sentence for trafficking and criminal conspiracy charges relating to the NXIVM sex trafficking case. The charges were brought against Mack in connection with the NXIVM. Mack entered a guilty plea to the charges in 2021 and stood 14 to 17 and a half years in prison before she earned her three-year sentence for being involved in the admission of women to NXIVM, where the leader Keith Raniere exploited and mistreated them.
Mack also had to perform 1,000 hours of community service and pay a $20,000 fine in addition to her three-year prison sentence.
The Story So Far
After a raid on the NXIVM premises near Albany, New York, in March 2018, federal officials originally placed the former actress under custody in April 2018. Mack wrote a statement to the court before her sentencing in which she addressed “those who have been harmed by my actions.” In the letter, Mack stated that she devoted herself to the teachings of Raniere “with everything I had.” The letter was filed before Mack was sentenced.
As for Raniere, he was sentenced to a total of 120 years in prison in 2020, a year before Mack was scheduled to be sentenced in 2021. The charges against Raniere included sex trafficking. Mack has made public a letter in which she states:
It is now of paramount importance for me to say, from the bottom of my heart, I am so sorry; This was the biggest mistake and regret of my life.
According to a database maintained by the Federal Bureau of Prisons, the actress from Smallville, who is now 40 years old and served as the subject of HBO’s The Vow, was freed from the Federal Correctional Institution in Dublin, California, on July 3. She started serving her three-year term there in September 2021.
