This summer will celebrate the James Webb Space Telescope’s first anniversary as a ground-breaking astronomical platform encircling the sun some 1.6 million kilometers away from Earth. So, what could do a better job of doing honor to such a significant occasion than a genuinely outstanding documentary?
The IMAX Corporation, Nathaniel Kahn, and Crazy Boat Pictures Ltd. will collaborate on a passion project called “Deep Sky,” which will emphasize the performance of the James Webb Space Telescope by showcasing and discussing critical events.

This enlightening documentary examines and showcases the engineering and building process of the $10 billion JWST, its historic launch on December 25, 2021, and the publication of its first full-color and even its galaxy-scattered photos on July 12, 2022.
Nathaniel Kahn created the story, produced the film, and served as the film’s director. Co-producing “Deep Sky” was Bonnie Hlinomaz. At the same time, Michelle Williams (winner of the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Motion Picture), will narrate the cinematic tribute to the greatest James Webb Space Telescope, which will be shown in IMAX’s institutional theater chain soon!
John Turner is the Executive Producer for IMAX. This worldwide entertainment giant has collaborated on this project with NASA, ESA, CSA, the Space Telescope Science Institute, along with the Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy.
